Keenan students walk the runway

On Sunday January 22 Keenan held a scholarship pageant. The judges crowned a Miss Sophomore, Miss Junior, Mr. Keenan and Miss Keenan.

Brown shows appreciation

Mr. J.B. Brown, drama teacher, agreed to meet up to be the central focus of a ten-minute interview which turned into a 25-minute interview engaging in his directing and acting career. He sat and reflected on his past drama productions, while contemplating the “good ole days.”

Did you say ‘This Christmas’?

Trying new things, Keenan hosted a first-time movie night at 7:00 P.M. on December 15 in the student parking lot. Individuals at Keenan wanted to bring the school together using a fun event.

Keenan dancers take the stage

Raider Rubber Band marches forward

The Keenan Marching Raider Rubber Band went to Atlanta, Georgia, on November 7 to compete in the National Band Competition.

The band has worked many weeks throughout the summer and first quarter of the school year in order to prepare a routine show for the competition.

Another successful fine arts performance rewards Keenan audience

On May 16, the drama department and band students performed the play RAPunzel. RAPunzel was an urban twist on the traditional fairy tale “Rapunzel.”

“It’s a play; it’s a modernized version of ‘Rapunzel.’ It’s our Keenan High spin on ‘Rapunzel,’” Sophomore Le’on Hill said.

Francis Marion’s gospel choir visits Keenan

On March 7 in the Auditorium, the Francis Marion University gospel choir visited and performed for students and faculty in the Fine Arts Department.

The choir goes by the name Young, Gifted and Blessed (Y.G.B.), and is led by Director Jeffrey Lampkin. The choir is embarking on a spring tour of the Southeast.

Miss Katie Ramseur, Miss Dawn Berry, Miss Ashia Crooms and Mr. Cornelius Hair, all students from the University of South Carolina (USC), did a special project at Keenan for Black History Month.

Raider Band goes to Nationals

On November 2, the Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band (MKRRB) attended the National High School High Stepping Marching Band Championship, in Atlanta, Georgia.

There were 18 bands in attendance. MKRRB participated in the 2A division.
