Keenan begins EOC testing for the year

On May 9, 11, 15, and 16, Keenan began end-of-course (EOC) testing. The EOC is an end-of-course exam that ninth through 11th grade students take each year.

The EOC will determine what students have learned from the beginning of the school year up until now.

Seniors present senior projects

It’s that time of the year again at Keenan, when all the seniors participate in doing their Senior Projects for a major grade and to show others their plans for the future.

Senior Projects are basically when each senior chooses a topic he or she is interested in or a career he or she wants to pursue in the future.

Seniors plan for graduation

High school is all about preparing for the “real world.” May 24, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. Keenan students will walk across the stage at Colonial Life Arena.  Students will receive diplomas and rewards from their work over the course of four years, from Grade 9 to Grade 12.

“It’s lit,” Senior Sanchez Lorick said. “I’m ready to take on the next chapter of my life.”

Keenan awards students with celebration

Keenan held a cookout celebration for students who made third quarter honor roll, 11th graders who participated in the WorkKeys and ACT testing, and students who were Caught Being Blue. The celebration was held during fourth block on April 7.

Students express feelings in Spoken Word

On March 17 Keenan students participated in the Spoken Word poetry slam.

The turnout was great; many people came to enjoy the poetry.

There were many participants in this event. Most of the students enjoyed reading their poetry.

Others wondered why the poetry readers wanted to participate.

Keenan gets into the spirit

On February 23, Keenan celebrated Black History Month with a Black History Month program. February is the month where black Americans are recognized for their achievements.

Keenan helps the LLS

Keenan students, faculty and staff came together this past February to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).

The LLS is the largest voluntary health organization to dedicate their time to finding cures, research and getting access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

Keenan exhibits talent at District Honors Orchestra program

Showcasing their skills, Keenan’s orchestra members attended the District Honors Orchestra event at 6:00 P.M. on February 17 at Lower Richland High school. The day before, various students participated in the practice conducted from 9:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

The top orchestra students from both middle and high school attended the concert.
