Tornados whisk away a Raider

Senior D’Vaungh Kelley signed a full scholarship to play football with Brevard College in North Carolina.

“It was a great day for Keenan football and Raider Nation as a whole,” Coach Quin McCollum said. “D’Vaungh worked hard on the field and in the classroom and his work is paying off.”

Samuel Martin named Gates Millennium Scholar

Senior Samanuel Martin has been named a Gates Millennium Scholar. This scholarship provides awards that will be based on the cost of tuition, fees, books and living expenses for the 2014-2015 academic year, as well as the availability of grants and other scholarships reported on the financial aid award letter according to the Gates Millennium website.

Beta Club welcomes new members

On March 24, 18 new members were inducted into the Beta Club. The Beta Club is committed to recognizing and promoting high academic achievement, rewarding and nurturing worthy character, fostering leadership skills and encouraging service to others. Keenan holds first superlative showcase

Keenan held its first Senior Superlative Program (SSP) this year. The program required attending Seniors to dress in business casual attire and gather in the Auditorium during lunch and fourth period.

FFA Winter Awards ends successfully

In the Lecture Hall on December 3, 2013, Keenan’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter had an awards ceremony. The FFA is a worldwide organization that helps young students with leadership and communication skills.

Raider Band goes to Nationals

On November 2, the Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band (MKRRB) attended the National High School High Stepping Marching Band Championship, in Atlanta, Georgia.

There were 18 bands in attendance. MKRRB participated in the 2A division.

Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band attends Dillon Battle of the Bands

On October 5, the Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band (MKRRB) traveled to Dillon to participate in the annual Dillon Battle of the Bands (BOTB).

There were 23 bands in attendance. MKRRB competed in the 3A division. Three other bands participated in the 3A division such as Crestwood High School (Sumter, SC), Philip O. Keenan students inducted into National Honor Society

On Oct. 30, 2013, students were inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) in the theatre at 6:30 P.M. There was an increase in the number of students this year.   In order for students to be qualified to be inducted, they would have to meet all four requirements and complete an application. The four requirements for membership are scholarship, leadership, service and character.
