Photo publication is to be taken seriously by all student media staff members to provide the audience with photos that represent the school in the most updated and ethical manner. Every story and photo should be in good taste. If a student media staff member encounters any questionable photos, he or she should consult with the adviser and consider the effect publication of the photo would have on the integrity of the newspaper. All student media staff members should apply the QECD method in their decision-making process:
Question if you would want a respected person to see the photo.
Evaluate possible outcomes.
Choose what’s best for the newspaper.
Discuss and do the right thing.
Staff members should ultimately show respect for the media and themselves.
This policy was drafted by the cub reporters of the Journalism class.
