Trying new things, Keenan hosted a first-time movie night at 7:00 P.M. on December 15 in the student parking lot. Individuals at Keenan wanted to bring the school together using a fun event.
Members of the Student Council and Keenan staff in charge of the event thought a movie night would be an excellent way to do that.
Mrs. Stephanie Jenkins, dance teacher, was one of the staff members over the event. Along with Jenkins, Seniors Roderica Sturrup and John Richmond managed the event.
Before the event, Jenkins had a few words.
“Please come to support the dance department and movie night on December 15 because both events will be ones to remember,” she said.
Jenkins also had a dance event that took place at 6:00 P.M., an hour before movie night.
Admission for the dance event was $3, and if attendees wore pajamas, it was only $1. Those who attended the movie night got in for free.
Pearls for Girls were also a part of the event. They sold various sweets for their cause during the movie night. Juniors sold popcorn, while seniors sold hot cocoa. All the funds raised by the student groups were put toward their classes.
“This event is for raising money…,” Sturrup said.
Those in charge of the event picked up the idea of a movie night from another school.
The movie displayed at the event was This Christmas.
The movie night received positive feedback, and many thought it was a huge success.
“If I can’t do it, then it can’t be done,” Richmond said.
