After having only one wrestler advancing to the State Championship last season, the Keenan wrestling team has high confidence and is determined to dominate this season’s matches.

“I believe in the boys, and by the way they are practicing, I see a championship team,” Coach Pablo Rivera, assistant coach, said.

The rookies have confidence going into the season and believe they can impress the coaches.

“We were missing a lot of lower weight classes last season, that shouldn’t be a problem now since we have a lot of underclassman/rookies,” Coach Ken Riley, head coach, said.

Riley also says he doesn’t think one veteran will be a leader. He believes they are a bond of brotherhood and will become a leader as one unit.

“I feel as if this sport is injected into our DNA,” Senior Kemondre Pauldo, veteran wrestler, said.

The Keenan veteran wrestlers, full of seniors, believe they can make something happen this season. They also vowed to be mentors towards the rookies.

“I feel as if I succeeded as a coach to prepare this team for the season,” Riley said.  “It’s time to see how the hard work pays off.”

This will surely be a team to watch wrestle this season.
