Keenan is starting the tryouts for the upcoming volleyball season. Hoping for a year like the one before or better, Head Coach Anita Mobley is excited for the great potential coming in from the middle schools.

“We are looking forward to being the regional champs, state championship and bonding as a team,” Mobley said.

Last year the Lady Raiders were on a roll, playing smart and with confidence. They were defeated the first round of the playoffs but had a great season. Being a part of a team takes dedication.

“I feel our team was okay but needed improvements,” Sophomore Yaasmeen Muhammad, libero, said.

According to Junior Jana Praileau, setter, many are looking to tryout.

Mobley has characteristics in mind that are mandatory for a new player.

“Responsibility in the position they play, leadership skills and to be coachable,” she said.

When playing volleyball there’s no “I” in team. There are only six players on the court at a time. Each person is obligated to play a position.

“I’m looking to gain at least five players on Junior Varsity and to replace three on Varsity,” Mobley said.

The Lady Raiders are starting workouts, getting ready for the upcoming season. Most of the past season players are joining them again. Last season there were no seniors.

“We should have an awesome season,” Muhammad said.
