Derrick Rose, basketball star from the Chicago Bulls, suffered the third serious injury to his knee February 24, 2015.

In the 2011-2012 season, Rose started 39 games until he suffered his first injury in the first game of the playoffs. He tore the ACL in his left knee while jumping to grab a rebound.

He sat out for the entire 2012-2013 in efforts to heal from his injury. His return to the NBA in the 2013-2014 was highly anticipated by the fans. Just after 10 games, Rose tore the meniscus in his right knee. Rose was sidelined for the remainder of the season also.

The preparation to get back on track for the next season started after the surgery on his right knee. Rose came into the 2014-2015 with the most confidence he has had in 4 years.

Rose returned, putting up solid numbers but not like in his MVP season. Everything was going well until February 24, 2015, when Rose reported to the trainer with pain in his right knee. MRI confirmed a meniscus tear in the knee. Rose underwent a successful meniscectomy to repair his knee. He would return in 6-7 weeks.

Rose returned to the NBA ready to take his team to the playoffs. He carried his team past the first round of the playoffs April 30, 2015, with an impressive 120-66 win. In the 4-2 series, Rose averaged 19 points and 6.5 assists over this stretch.

“I think Derrick Rose can only take his team to the second round of the playoffs with his injuries,” Junior Tyriek Davis-Newton said. “I would also return to the NBA if I was good like him.”

Some students explained how they would prepare themselves if they injured their knees for the third time

“I would pray and do a lot of conditioning to get my knee right. I would try to take minimum impact on my knee to prevent more injuries.” Senior Jonathan Cato said.

Rose has been keeping his faith in God during his hard times.

“I think it is important that Derrick Rose gets his rest so he can return and play at a MVP level again,” Junior Jaquan Osborne said.

Derrick Rose has now made it to the second round of the playoffs where he faces Lebron James and the steaming hot Cleveland Cavaliers. Derrick Rose hopes his injuries don’t play a part falling to the Cavs.
