On December 17, 2014, the Keenan dance company performed the Snow Queen, a remake of Frozen.
The performance was the display of how hard the dancers worked first semester. They went through numerous practices and tryouts. They had practices in and out of class, by themselves, as a class and also as a whole company.
The performers spent their time rehearsing and perfecting their moves. Each dancer put in a lot of work.
“I practice in class and some days out of school, and I put 100% effort in,” Freshman Kyland Oxner, Woodland Nymph, said.
When viewing their practices, observers could see the dedication the dancers put into this performance. They ran through the material and used up all their time wisely.
Even Mrs. Stephanie Jenkins, dance instructor, raved about the performance, though she had her doubts.
“Yes, it was an absolute success. I had my doubts, wondering were we going to pull it off, and it came out wonderful,” Jenkins said.
The audience was in awe and gave a standing ovation at the end of the performance. The show was talked about two weeks after the actual performance.
“I have never been to a Keenan dance performance, but it was amazing. I will definitely come back to see another,” Sophomore Shamia Smith said.
The show was something new, something exciting. The feedback was great. The dance company will have another performance next year.
