Coach James Johnson, Campus Monitor, received the award of Classified Employee of the Year for 2012-2013. His coworkers believe he does his job to the full extent.
“He’s a good dude. He’s [much] respected [among] the Raider Nation,” Coach Freddie Solomon, Instructional Assistant, said.
Johnson’s involvement with youth makes him a favorite with students. Around school, many enjoy his bubbly personality and his hilarious nature.
“Coach Johnson makes sure we work and keeps us focused. He is also very funny,” Sophomore Jada Jackson said.
Johnson has been working at Keenan for 15 years and enjoys his job.
“I felt very encouraged and proud of my accomplishments. It’s not a job. I like dealing with kids and keeping them on the right track,” Johnson said
He also provided some tips on what characteristics he had to receive this award.
“Always be real, never act or perform for anyone, be the same way all the time,” Johnson said.
Like the students, the teachers appreciate his work. He is a dedicated staff member, always helping others out without being asked.
Johnson has touched many along the years. He has worn many hats, such as caring coach, loyal friend, supportive coworker and devoted staff member.
“He’s awesome. He’s always there to help the teachers. He truly exemplifies what it means to be academic support to the faculty,” Mr. KaReem Beckett, Teacher, said.
The members of the girls basketball team, whom Coach Johnson has assisted throughout the years, sincerely value his work ethic.
“He is very motivational and inspiring. He is wise, and he knows the game,” Sophomore Le’on Hill said.
