On October 5, the Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band (MKRRB) traveled to Dillon to participate in the annual Dillon Battle of the Bands (BOTB).

There were 23 bands in attendance. MKRRB competed in the 3A division. Three other bands participated in the 3A division such as Crestwood High School (Sumter, SC), Philip O. Berry High School (Charlotte, NC) and Twiggs County High School (Jeffersonville, GA).

“My band did the best they possibly could, and I’m proud of them,” Mr. Brandon Hopkins, Band Director, said.

MKRRB performed many songs from different generations, including Beyoncé’s “Sweet Dreams” and New Edition’s “Mr. Telephone Man” and “Cool It Now.”

“The Raider Rubber Band showed out,” Sophomore Denaris Boatwright, Trumpet Section Leader, said.

This was the band’s first competition of the season.

“We rocked the house,” Sophomore Solomon Goodwin, Trombone Player, said.

The band came home with a rating of excellent and 1st place in the 3A division. MKRRB placed 4th overall.
