The Lucky One placed in the Top 8 at the Box office, not being much competition to the Avengers. The Lucky One is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, who also wrote The Notebook, The Last Song and Dear John, all which have been produced into movies.
The Lucky One is about a U.S. Marine serving his third tour of duty, Logan Thibault, played Zac Efron. After surviving a night raid, he spots a picture of a woman with a message telling him to “Keep safe X,” written on the back of the picture. After an attack by a mortar kills the rest of his squad, he is left with minor injuries. He returns back home, finding that it’s difficult to adjust and dealing with his guilt, he meets the woman in the picture he found, Beth Clayton, played by Taylor Schilling, Logan’s love interest throughout the movie.
The movie overall was okay, but it was a nice flick to see with a certain someone or a special date night movie. I would recommend this movie to couples only, but I would also recommend it to people who love romance movies. As far a romance goes, this movie doesn’t compete with Nicholas Sparks’s last movies that came out over the year.
