The Keenan Robotics Team has two major projects coming up this month. They will be participating in the Pumpkin Chunkin’ contest with the University of South Carolina and the 2nd Annual Haunted House.
“I’m very excited about all the new things we have coming up this year in Robotics,” Senior Joseph James said.
Towards the end of the month, the Robo Raiders will be having their 2nd Annual Haunted House at Keenan. This event will be held on October 29, 2011.
The team has begun building and working on exhibits that will bring them together and make their team skills stronger.
“[I enjoy] being in Project Real and…building things and being a part of an organization,” Sophomore Charann Brown said.
The team has to get started building their catapult so they will be able to launch their pumpkins in the Pumpkin Chunkin’ Contest. This will be held in Irmo on November 5, 2011.
The object of this competition is to show which catapult is the strongest and can launch the farthest.
Upon completing these two important assignments, the students will be applying things they have learned in their various engineering class and different programs.
“Every year our students grow academically and gain more insight into engineering, so success is inevitable,” Mr. Kareem Beckett, Science Teacher, said.
