By Ms. Cathy Page, Special to the Sword and Shield

When you see one of these students, please congratulate them on winning first place.  Each team won first place and the right to compete at the World Tournament, which is being held this year at the University of Maryland [in] Baltimore, Maryland.

To the faculty on B Hall and [D] Hall, thank you again this year for the use of your classrooms. We made every effort to leave things as we found them.  Again, thank you for your generosity.

Ms. Cindy Biar, State O[dyssey of the] M [ind] Director, commented on this school being the most attractive and cleanest high school she has visited.  The staff was the most helpful and courteous, and they really…appreciate you all.  She thanks each of you.

Ms. Page is the Odyssey of the Mind Sponsor.

More about Odyssey of the Mind

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. The Odyssey of the Mind is truly a worldwide competition. Participants include teams from Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Canada, China, Czech Republic, DoDDS Europe, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan and practically every state in the U.S. The annual Odyssey of the Mind World Finals is an event to behold. It embodies the inter-national spirit of creativity! Winners from the state com-petition earn the right to compete in the World Finals.
